Excelsior, Ibis, WEIL etc ( WEIL and IBIS are better hotels cause they are new ) ,staying in this area, is within walking distance to Ipoh Parade shopping centre, famous beansprout chicken restaurants, Tong Sui Kai , Pasar Malam , Menglembu Yong tau foo (At the Octagon) etc.
WEIL Hotel
One of the newest hotel in town. This is recommended if you want convenience. It has a shopping mall attached to the hotel. Parkson Ipoh Parade is the mall , possibly about twice bigger than Katong I12 Mall and it comes with a Cinema as well. Within 10 minutes walk, you can access the Ipoh famous Bean Sprout Chicken Area.
Ibis Hotel
This hotel is more for business stay and next to it , there is a restaurant call "Small Genting" which serves very good Ipoh chicken shredded noodles ( 20 minutes wait at least ) . There are numerous other food stall in the food centre there as well. ( Satay, Goreng Fish, CuttleFish Kangkong, Indian food, BBQ sting ray etc )
Excelsior
Perhaps the older hotels than the rest, however, the location is great as downstairs and across there were 3 famous dim sum restaurants. Dim Sums starts at 6 am , so if you are an earlier bird , highly recommended to go to Ming Court Dim Sum (old school HK-style Dim Sum) opposite the hotel.
